What defines a supercar? Well there are many great cars that can match the performance of a supercar like the Nissan GTR or the Chevrolet Corvette but these cars are not considered supercars. A supercar needs to be a vehicle that is out of reach for 99% of people. These cars have a high price tag. More than that though is the fact that a supercar is pure sex on wheels. The Audi R8 Spyder is a perfect example of a good value supercar. It has the looks to kill, the performance, and the sophistication. Until now, the only open-top Audi R8 came with the V-10 engine and cost $162k. With a new 430-hp V-8 engine, the car is now much more affordable at $127k but not much slower.
Audi is now offering for the open super sports car R8 Spyder a new entry-level engine. Taken from the coupé version, this 4.2-liter V-8 now delivers 430 horsepower and 316 lb-ft. of torque. The two-seater accelerates in from 0-60 MPH in 4.8 seconds. The top speed is 186 MPH.
Thus, the weaker R8 is only a few MPH slower than the top engine: the V-10 FSI 5.2-liter displacement motor that makes 525 HP. While the V-10 FSI cost at least $25k more than the entry-level version. This is what makes the Audi R8 4.2 Spyder the best value supercar.
For quick gear changes alongside a six-speed manual gearbox is available also optional R tronic sequential manual transmission. Always the force is transmitted through quattro drive to all four wheels. The rear-biased all-wheel drive is in normal driving conditions, 85 percent strongly transmission to the rear axle. Fuel consumption is at Audi for the R-Tronic is 13 MPG in the city and 21 MPG on the highway.
Visually, the eight-cylinder version of the Audi R8 Spyder 5.2 FSI with a black single-frame grille and the four tailpipes at the rear is different – the ten-cylinder, there are two large oval tailpipes.
The Audi R8 GT is a Limited Edition supercar with 560 HP. To reduce the weight of the R8 helps the aluminum body with large pieces of carbon fiber composite material. The 4.43 meters long Spyder with V8 engine has an empty weight of 1735 pounds and is due to the smaller engine 60 pounds lighter than the V10 Spyder. The new Audi can be ordered now and will be available at dealerships as of autumn.
